11 Days tour from Tangier to the Desert via Imperial Cities

Day 1: Tanger – Tetouan – Chefchaouen :

Today we will pick up to start the Tour from Tangier to the Desert by departing for Chefchaouen with a stop in Tetouan(called the Spanish city). Then we head to Chefchaouen, where we will have a guided tour of this blue city. We will walk through its narrow streets and old houses painted in blue and white. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Chafchaouen.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Fes

We departed crossing the mountain villages of Jbala and after about 4 hours we arrive in Fez – one of the four Imperial cities in Morocco (other cities are Marrakech, Meknes, and Rabat). Fez is considered Morocco’s most religious and cultural center of the country. We will spend a night in a riad or hotel.

Day 3: Fes

We will discover Fes by guided Tour and we will visit many monuments, and places such as Medersas (Koranic schools ): Chahrij, Bouinania Attarin, souk, Fes El- Jadid, Karaouine Mosque ( the first university in the world). It is very curious to visit the neighborhood of leather tanners, where we can appreciate the craftsmanship. We spent this night at a hotel or riad.

Day 4 :Fes – Merzouga desert

We will drive to the Middle Atlas, to visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. The next stop will be the ancient cedar forest, inhabited by monkeys. Then we reach Midelt, and we stay here for lunch. The landscape is breathtaking, the mountains are completely naked, typical mountain landscape. We will pass Errachidia- Tafilalet, valley of Ziz, with stunning views of palm, then we reach Erfoud ” the door of the desert”. We continue to Merzouga where we will have a camel ride and we will stay overnight in the highest dunes in North Africa, the Erg Chebbi in a camp site in the dunes.

Day 5 : Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorges

Today we leave Merzouga in the morning after breakfast and we will stop in Rissani (know as Sigilimasa) economic capital of the nomads who come to the weekly market. We will make a visit to the flea market with a thousand colors. Then we continue towards the Todra Gorge and we will enjoy this area. In the afternoon we will reach Dades Gorges, where we stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 6 : Dades Gorges – Ouarzazatte – Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, we will take a tour of the nearby river Dades, where we see plenty of kasbahs. We cross the massif of the track atlas caves to visit a nomad family and see their way of life. Then we continue to the Valley of Roses passing the Berber village of Boutaghrar, and we continue to Skoura for a short visit to the famous Kasbah Amredil. We arrive in Ouarzazate to visit Kasbah Taourirt, then another visit to a jewel of the region, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, the Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, where numerous films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, etc, and we stay here overnight at a local hotel.

Day 7 : Ait Benhaddou- Essaouira

After breakfast, we follow the road to mountain pass Tichka, and Marrakech to bring us closer to the Atlantic coast where is Essaouira, the Pearl of the Atlantic. In the afternoon we check-in local riad, and we can watch the sunset from the murals, an experience you can not miss. At the night, we can taste the wonderful fish that is extracted from its shores and take an evening stroll through this quiet and picturesque town.

Day 8: Essaouira

Today you will have free time to visit this ancient town called by the Portuguese in origin ” Mogador ” one of the most beautiful coastal cities of the Atlantic from Morocco with its medina and its blue and white, its long beaches and ancient citadel walls of the time Portuguese colonial. We spend this night in the local riad.

Day 9 : Essaouira – Marrakech

In the afternoon we will drive to Marrakech with a few stops. We spend this night in a local riad/hotel.

Day 10: Marrakech – Guided Tour

In the morning we pick up the official guide to guide us. We visit the most interesting places in the city such as the Museum of Marrakech, the Medersa, Majorelle gardens, Tombs Saadieenas. You will have a free afternoon to discover the famous Jemaa el Fna square, which at night becomes the best place to stay. We spend a night in the local riad.

Day 11: Marrakech airport

Depending on the time of your flight we will transfer you to the airport and this will be the end of the Tour from Tangier to the Desert and our services.
